Import and export of foreign currency
5.1. Import
of cash foreign currency to the Russian Federation by persons is
not limited.
1.
Currency of the Russian Federation
a) Physical persons residents and non-residents
in a lump can take out from the Russian Federation cash foreign
currency in the sum which is not exceeding in an equivalent 10 000
US dollars, without representation of allowing documents. Besides
the specified sum physical persons have the right to take out from
the Russian Federation the cash foreign currency earlier imported
into the Russian Federation within the limits of the sum specified
in the customs declaration, confirming its import in the Russian
Federation.
b) Lump sum export from the Russian Federation
by physical persons of cash foreign currency in the sum exceeding
in an equivalent of 10 000 US dollars, is not supposed, except for
cases of export before the foreign currency imported by the Russian
Federation within the limits of the sum specified in the customs
declaration, confirming its import in the Russian Federation.
c) At lump sum export from the Russian Federation
by physical persons of cash foreign currency in the sum which is
not exceeding in an equivalent 3 000 US dollars, the specified foreign
currency is not subject to declaring to customs body. At lump export
from the Russian Federation by physical persons of cash foreign
currency in the sum exceeding in an equivalent of 3 000 US dollars,
the taken out foreign currency is subject to obligatory written
declaring.
d) At realization of customs registration and the
control of cash foreign currency taken out by physical persons,
before the Russian Federation imported on territory, customs bodies
as the basis for export are accepted:
• the customs declarations of form ÒÄ-6 which has been made out
at import of the specified currency in the Russian Federation.
• certificates of the form of the ÒÑ - 28 on import the currencies
which have been made out before coming into force of the above-stated
Federal law, in view of the term of export established in the given
certificates before the imported cash foreign currency.

Persons bear responsibility for violation of customs regulations
in accordance with the Customs Code of the Russian Federation and
in part not regulated by the Code - in accordance with administrative
offences legislation and criminal legislation of the Russian Federation.
If the person disagrees with actions of the customs official he/she
has the right to appeal against them to a superior official or superior
customs authority in accordance with the Customs Code of the Russian
Federation as well as to the other authorities stipulated by law
of the Russian Federation.

remember that the above mentioned regulations are given to the minimum
necessary extent.
If the person has difficulties concerning the completion of the
customs declaration he/she may apply for necessary explanations
to the customs official before customs inspection starts.
